Clinical List

Lumigen has extensive experience in large scale synthesis and formulation of chemiluminescent reagents. These reagents are used in state-of-the-art medical diagnostic applications. The following are some examples of the use of Lumigen chemiluminescent reagents in clinical diagnostics.

Lumi-Phos 530 is used as the detection reagent in the Access Immunoassay Analyzer from BeckmanCoulter.

Over 70 tests are available in Thyroid, Fertility, Anemia, Cardiovascular, Metabolic, Diabetes, Tumor Markers, Allergy, Infectious Disease, Proteins and Blood Virus.

Lumigen PPD and a proprietary enhancer are incorporated in the chemiluminescent detection reagent used in the Immulite Immunoassay Analyzer family from Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics.

Over 70 tests are available in Allergy, Anemia, Bone Metabolism, Cytokines, Drugs of Abuse, Reproductive Hormones, Infectious Disease, TDMs, Thyroid Function, Tumor Markers, Veterinary and Other Analytes with several more under development.

Lumi-Phos 530 and Lumi-Phos Plus are used as detection reagents in the VERSANT branched DNA (bDNA) assays of Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics for HIV viral load monitoring as well as Hepatitis B and C virus assays.

Lumi-Phos 530 is used as the detection reagent in the Hybrid Capture assays of Digene Diagnostics. Digene tests include:

  • Hybrid Capture System HPV DNA Assay (HCS HPV) for detection of human papillomavirus
  • Hybrid Capture System CMV DNA Assay (HCS CMV) for detection of cytomegalovirus
  • Hybrid Capture System HBV DNA Assay (HCS HBV) for detection of hepatitis B virus

Lumi-Phos 530 is used as the detection reagent in the new VIDIA immunoanalyzer recently launched by bioMerieux.

VIDIA will provide an extensive reagent menu, covering the fields of infectious diseases (toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, HIV, hepatitis, Epstein Barr virus, syphilis, varicella, Lyme disease) as well as hormones (thyroid function, fertility), cancer (tumor markers) and the diagnosis of anemia.

Lumi-Phos 530 is used as the detection reagent in the new Olympus AU3000i immunoanalyzer.

The AU3000i will provide high throughput at 240 tests per hour. Test panels under development include thyroid, fertility, tumor and cardiac markers in addition to allergy and anemia testing.

Life Science Research List

Lumigen TMA-6 is incorporated in the ECL Advance western blotting detection system of GE Healthcare/Amersham Biosciences and provides the highest sensitivity detection available. The increased sensitivity is particularly suited for quantifying low abundance proteins. Alternately, antibody usage can be reduced resulting in significant cost savings.

Lumigen PS-3 is incorporated in the ECL Plus western blotting detection system of GE Healthcare/Amersham Biosciences and provides up to a 20-fold increase in sensitivity over ECL. The increased sensitivity allows low abundance proteins to be quantified more easily. Smaller quantities of primary antibodies can be used. The longer signal duration with ECL Plus makes repeating exposures more convenient.

Lumi-Phos 530 is incorporated by Assay Designs, Inc. in their Correlate Chemiluminescent Immunoassay Kits. These enzyme-linked assays employ alkaline phosphatase as the label. Kits for measurement of Prostaglandin E1, Prostaglandin E2, 6-keto-Prostaglandin F1a, Substance P, 17-beta-Estradiol and Thromboxane B2 are available.

Lumigen PPD is incorporated by DuPont Qualicon in the RiboPrinter® system. This automated system provides microbial characterization of environmental isolates, pathogens, spoilage organisms, control strains, beneficial organisms or any bacterium that is important to the pharmaceutical, personal care and food safety industries. The RiboPrinter system provides an automated genetic snapshot of any bacterium in less than eight hours.

Lumigen APS-5 is incorporated by PIERCE in the Lumi-Phos WB Chemiluminescent Substrate for AP. Western blots using Lumi-Phos WB and an alkaline phosphatase label achieves excellent sensitivity with very low background. Unlike any other chemiluminescent substrate there is no waiting period - immediate light generation guarantees rapid results.

Lumi-Phos 530 and Lumi-Phos Plus are supplied by Tepnel/Lifecodes for use in the QUICK-LIGHT hybridization kits. These kits are used with NICE nonradioactive probes in identity testing for paternity and forensic applications.

A protocol for hybridization of non radioactive probes and chemiluminescent detection is available.

Lumigen APS-5 is incorporated by VECTOR LABORATORIES in the DuoLuX Chemiluminescent substrate kits. This unique reagent can be used in detecting either alkaline phosphatase or peroxidase labels in a ready-to-use solution. PDF documents containing further information on the DuoLuX Alkaline Phosphatase substrate and DuoLuX Peroxidase substrate are available.

Lumigen PS-atto is incorporated by HIGH THROUGHPUT GENOMICS in a multiplexed ribonuclease protection assay system using ArrayPlate technology. This system permits screening of up to 16 mRNA sequences simultaneously in a 96 well microplate format with chemiluminescent CCD imaging. A PDF document describing an application of this system is available.
